Why We Exist
With a baseline of only 12% -16% representation of People of Color in the environmental / conservation field, scarce opportunities for professional development, and hostile organizational cultures towards people of color and women, there's an urgent need to increase demographic representation and foster inclusivity within the sector. Our mission is fueled by the knowledge that diverse perspectives are essential for effectively addressing global environmental challenges, and simply raising awareness on the topic and developing partnerships with community organizations is not enough.
We are also facing a retention crisis of mid-level career professionals in the sector, so we challenged ourselves to design a new model capable of breaking through systemic barriers, addressing the issue at scale, and lasting for the longer term.
